'Ello! This week I watched one of my favourite films of all time on the big screen, over 30 years after I first saw it on VHS. Yes, that's right - Labyrinth is back in theatres and remastered in 4K for its 40th anniversary!!

Some films never really leave us. They linger in the background of our imagination, quietly shaping our love for weird worlds, creepy characters, and David Bowie's bulge... but we won’t mention that.

With Labyrinth finding its way back into the spotlight, I felt it was the perfect moment to show my love for the film with a little something inspired by one of its most beloved characters: Hoggle.

Why Hoggle?

Why not! Yes, the movie is full of amazing characters that are so unique and original, but none of them are more iconic than Hoggle. I’ve always loved him... (and he’s always reminded me of my grandad, so that helps).

He’s flawed, he makes mistakes, but he chooses loyalty over fear. What an inspiration! He’s a bloomer! Thus the perfect subject for a vase (like what I did there?).

From Film to Functional Art

This Hoggle vase was sculpted entirely by hand using high quality modelling clay then painted with acrylics.

The goal wasn’t to create a movie replica, it was to capture how I've always seen him and in my own individual style, with my trademark creepy/cute look and mischievous expression.

The result is a piece of Labyrinth fan art that's both sculpture and functional art. It works as a vase, but it’s just as happy existing as a decorative figure on a shelf or altar to the god that is Jim Henson!

A One-of-a-Kind Piece for Labyrinth Fans

This isn’t merchandise. It isn’t factory-made.

It’s a one-off, handmade art piece created for:

*Fans of Labyrinth

*Lovers of fantasy

*80's movie fanatics

*Collectors of unusual décor

*People who appreciate weird, nostalgic, handmade art

Creating pieces like this is my way of celebrating the stories that shaped my taste for the strange and surreal. Labyrinth is one of those films and had such a huge impact on my a an artist.

I even made a little video of me painting him, available to watch HERE on my YouTube channel.
